Sarah May
Sarah May (she/her), CFRE, joined Stand.earth’s Development team in May 2022. In her role as Senior Donor Engagement Manager, Sarah’s focus is on growing and stewarding the organization’s community of most engaged donors to support Stand’s bold mission to challenge corporations and governments to treat people and the environment with respect, because our lives depend on it. Sarah loves working with donors who are as committed to this mission as our team is, and creating new connections and partnerships with this shared vision in mind.
Sarah came to Stand.earth with eight years of experience fundraising in the environmental and humanitarian sectors, working in donor engagement and planned giving roles for David Suzuki Foundation, Ecojustice, and Doctors Without Borders. She has an undergraduate degree in environmental studies from York University, a post graduate certificate in fundraising management from Humber College, and her Certified Fundraising Executive designation. Sarah is extremely passionate about the intersection of environmental protection, human rights, and social justice. She recently obtained a certificate in restorative justice from Simon Fraser University as part of her lifelong committment to growth and learning.
When she’s not working, Sarah enjoys spending time volunteering for local community organizations, hiking, camping, cooking, reading and practicing yoga. She moved from Toronto to Vancouver on unceded Tsleil-Waututh, Musquem, and Squamish territories in 2017, and can most likely be found exploring the coast and mountains while trying to pet your dog.
