Senior Campaigns Director

Shayda Edwards Naficy has almost 20 years of experience running global campaigns and supporting liberatory movements advancing social, racial, and environmental justice through corporate campaigning, government advocacy, international policymaking, and grassroots leadership development. She is thrilled to be joining the Stand.Earth team as a Senior Campaigns Director, working closely with the Fashion & IT teams.

Growing up in a muti-cultural family, she was engaged in issues of global justice from early on. She got her professional start with the Indian Law Resource Center, supporting Indigenous peoples’ advocacy for their rights and self-determination. Seeing the oversized role of corporations in destroying Indigenous communities and ways of life, she moved on to Corporate Accountability to learn the craft of corporate campaigning, where she launched a successful international campaign to protect the human right to water, partnering with organizations from the Philippines to Nigeria to Detroit to get the World Bank to divest from the world’s largest water privatizers. Most recently, she founded Corporate Accountability’s Movement Power Program to support and resource frontline, BIPOC-led campaigns against some of the most powerful corporations in the world – from Chevron to Wells Fargo. She holds a B.Sc from Rice University in Earth Sciences and a M.A. in Social Sciences from the University of Chicago.

In addition to her passion for social justice, Shayda loves to make music, be goofy with her toddler, write poetry, explore the natural world, and learn from other cultures, as prisms into the human experience of life on this precious planet. She lives with her daughter and partner in Missoula, Montana, on the land of the Salish, Kootenai, and Qlispe (Kalispel/Pend d’Oreille) peoples, which has been frequented by many other tribes as well.
