Stand’s Amazon rainforest program co-hosted an in-person event titled, “Frontline Fighters: Safeguarding Environmental Defenders in the Amazon” from 3 to 4:30 p.m. ET Monday, Sept. 23 at 311 W. 43rd St., 7th Floor, New York, NY 10036. Hosted in collaboration with RFK Human Rights and Amazon Watch, the event explored the urgent need to protect environmental human rights defenders, particularly those working and living in the Amazon region, and highlighted the significant impacts of their work and the grave risks they face in hopes of galvanizing international support for their protection and advocating for stronger legal frameworks to safeguard their rights.
