WHY: Since the Paris agreement was adopted, the world’s 60 biggest banks poured over $5.5 trillion into fossil fuels, financing climate chaos like fires, floods, and deadly heat. This includes Canada’s banks becoming the lenders of last resort for extreme energy like fracked gas and tar sands. Reports reveal the window for climate action is quickly closing, and that the ratio of financing renewables to fossil fuels needs to quadruple in the next few years.

Brooks will join the Responsible Investor Canada Conference as climate finance policy expert at the City, State, Provincial, National, and Global levels. Brooks will join on behalf of the climate finance and advocacy movements, speaking to the power of social justice movements in building a world free from fossil fuels toward climate-safe solutions.
