Soapboxx and Stand.earth Honored for Best Partnership or Collaboration in Sustainability, Environment, & Climate in the Inaugural Anthem Awards

February 16, 2022

Livingston, Montana / Vancouver, BC (Traditional hunting territory of the Blackfeet, Flathead, Shoshone, and Crow tribes / Unceded Coast Salish Territories)  — The Anthem Awards, the Webby Awards newest initiative, announced yesterday that they have awarded Stand.earth and Soapboxx the Silver Medal for Best Partnership or Collaboration in Sustainability, Environment, & Climate.

Soapboxx and Stand.earth collaborated to bring public awareness to multiple environmental issues taking place around the world. Soapboxx provided a custom website and platform for  Stand.earth to run community-generated video collection, editing, and distribution campaigns. Stand.earth utilized their supporter network to solicit video testimonials and personal pleas to its campaign targets. This brought awareness about threats to Indigenous rights, forests, waterways, and the climate to the public.

“It is our distinct honor to recognize the work that brands, organizations, and individuals are all making to create an impact in their community,” said Jessica Lauretti, Managing Director, The Anthem Awards. “We launched this platform to show the world that all corners of our culture, from sports and entertainment to business leaders and celebrities, are all standing up to say, it is time for systemic change and that social good is what we value as a society.”

Soapboxx and Stand.earth’s objective was to collect video testimonials from the public calling on the B.C. government to protect the last old growth forests in the province, for insurers to end contracts with the Trans Mountain Pipeline, for banks to stop financing oil extraction in the Amazon rainforest, and to end fossil fuel subsidies.

“Stand believed in the power of their community and that’s why it got results,” said Lilly Shasta, Chief Product Officer at Soapboxx. “We could not be more proud to share in this recognition but also to have helped facilitate Stand’s valuable work in lifting up their communities’ voices with videos that simply could not be ignored.”

Soapboxx and Stand.earth built public pressure on the B.C. government to protect old growth forests and for insurers to pull out of the Trans Mountain Pipeline project by collecting and sharing 135 videos on key social media accounts, some of which were used in a targeted ad to Trans Mountain Pipeline insurers. Shortly after Stand.earth targeted insurers on LinkedIn using a compilation of user-generated videos collected through Soapboxx, Chubb cut ties with the project, making them the 16th insurer to back out.

“At Stand.earth, we’re always looking for new and innovative ways for folks to make their voices heard by decision-makers, and ensure everyone feels empowered to drive social change”, said Solaye Snider, Senior Digital Campaigner at Stand.earth. “We’re excited to be recognized for accomplishing both of those things through our collaboration with Soapboxx, and that their technology made it easier than ever for thousands of our members to make a positive impact in the world.”

Winners for the inaugural Anthem Awards will be celebrated at the first annual Anthem Voices conference followed by a star-studded virtual Awards Show on Monday, February 28, 2022.  Fans will be able to hear from social impact leaders during the day and then watch the show, featuring special moments, and hallmark speeches from all you and your fellow winners at www.anthemawards.com.
