Alicia joined Stand.earth in January 2020. Alicia is an Ecuadorian who has a PhD in Public Policy.  Her thesis is a comparative assessment of the impact of REDD+ in climate finances in Asia, Latin America and Africa.  Her academic trajectory has been developed mainly in Mexico, Ecuador and in the US, as a Fulbright Fellow.  She brings 20 years of experience in research, volunteer organizing in over 300 communities and working with international organizations as well as Indigenous communities in Latin America.  Alicia has developed an innovative infrastructure with key Amazonian Indigenous organizations in nine countries to raise awareness of the Amazonia and its vital role for humanity at a global level.  Since 2021, Alicia Co-Coordinates the Initiative “Amazonia for Life: protect 80% by 2025”, an international diplomacy strategy led by indigenous leaders to stop destruction in the largest continuous rainforest on the planet.
