Stand.earth is an international organization with offices in Canada and the United States. We challenge corporations and governments to treat people and the environment with respect. We were founded nearly twenty years ago by a group of dedicated people who were working day in and day out to solve a big problem: What do you do when the health and foundation of communities and their environment are being undermined? Over the years, our work and our approach has evolved from a dedicated focus on forest protection to taking on some of the root causes of climate change and environmental injustice. In Canada, we are a registered Society under the Societies Act, under the name Stand Environmental Society (BC Reg Id: S0059653). Please note that in Canada we are not a registered charity, which allows us to do direct advocacy as needed. This means that we cannot issue a tax receipt for donations made in Canada.

Stand.earth is a non-partisan organization and has no affiliation with any political party in any country. To truly stay independent, Stand.earth does not solicit or accept funding from any governments or political parties.

As an independent environmental organization, we don’t accept money from corporations or governments. This is why Stand.earth monthly donations are so important as they help us plan better and enable us to focus more on the work we do. Furthermore, recurring donors give us the ability to effectively tackle power and make real change happen.

If you donated online: Please visit our Donor Hub where you can maintain and update your own information (including donation amount, card number, personal info, etc) and ensure that your donation processes correctly and your money continues to go where you intend it – fighting for healthy forests, a stable climate, and human rights. To log in, just enter the email that you used to donate and you will be sent a secure link to gain access.

If you donated via PayPal: Log-in to your PayPal account and follow these instructions to find and update your gift.

If you donated via mail or phone: Email gifts@stand.earth with your name, address, and gift info and we will get back to you as soon as we can to assist you!

US Donors: Stand.earth is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit, tax-exempt organization incorporated under the laws of the State of California in 1999 as ForestEthics (EIN: 94-3331587) and all donations to our organization in the US are tax deductible under the US tax laws. After you donate, you will receive an acknowledgment email for your records. If you haven’t received the acknowledgment within one week, please reach out to gifts@stand.earth. If you donate more than one gift in a year, you will get one yearly receipt with relevant tax information at the end of February.

Canadian Donors: While we are a registered non-profit society in Canada, under the name Stand Environmental Society (BC Reg Id: S0059653), we are not a registered charity. This means that we cannot issue a tax receipt for donations made in Canada.

Your gift is particularly important to Stand.earth’s bold, visible, and effective campaigns given the challenges of fundraising in Canada without charitable status.

For Canadian donations over $1,000 we welcome – and encourage – you to make your donation to Stand through our charitable partner, Salal Foundation, to receive an official tax receipt. While most of our actions are hosted on our own platform, we do occasionally partner with other organizations for joint actions and generate a higher number of petition signatures. For example, on our own we would have been able to generate 12,000 signatures for a petition to Biden – because of the support of other organizations we were able to generate more than 125,000, making our call to action that much stronger when we delivered the petition signatures.

We definitely sympathize with the inbox overload problem. Rest assured, these types of actions are not, and will not become our primary form of changing this world for the better. You can easily opt-out of any coalition emails like this by updating your preferences here.
